Emmalee Carreras, bookkeeper and founder of ECBookks Bookkeeping & Advisory in Shelton, CT

Emmalee Carreras is a dedicated Bookkeeper with a lifelong passion for numbers that began at home. Inspired by her mother, an accountant, Emmalee learned bookkeeping at a young age and gained early hands-on experience by managing client accounts while her mother was away. This early foundation shaped her strong attention to detail and appreciation for accurate, well-organized financial systems.

Although Emmalee initially pursued a degree in Criminal Justice, earning her Associate’s Degree from Norwalk Community College in 2002, she soon realized her true strengths and passion were in financial management. She returned to the field she knew best and spent nearly a decade as Office Manager at East Coast Irrigation, where she handled bookkeeping, scheduling, operations, and customer relations—playing an integral role in the company’s daily success.

Emmalee later expanded her professional experience as a Financial Account Manager and Financial Manager/Planner, supporting high-profile clients with budgeting, forecasting, general ledger setup, and personal and corporate financial management. Most recently, she served as Senior Bookkeeper for a nonprofit music school, managing payroll, reconciliations, financial reporting, regulatory filings, and supporting executive leadership and board operations.

Emmalee took great pride in managing the school’s financial operations with care, accuracy, and transparency. She values teamwork, organization, and clear communication, and is dedicated to helping businesses establish and maintain strong financial foundations. Her commitment to accuracy, strategic planning, and client service enables organizations to make informed decisions, foster sustainable growth, and achieve long-term financial success.

Outside of work, Emmalee enjoys cooking, reading, gardening, spending time with her family and children, and visiting Disney. She is deeply committed to giving back to the community and, each year, she and her family organize and distribute care bags filled with essential items, along with providing hot meals and beverages to those in need. Service, compassion, and community are values Emmalee brings to both her personal life and her role at any position.
